Whenever we’re trying to learn a new language, we find ourselves frustrated ninety nine percent of the time because we cannot speak it right away. It’s only obvious, we’re learning a new language. It has complexities, grammar, exceptions and cultural uses.

Most of us can’t even recollect how that felt when we were learning our native language because we were babies. However, if you look at a small kid who’s trying to talk but doesn’t know how to name things or articulate them, you’ll see their frustration, usually expressed in tears.

And that’s exactly what motivates everyone to speak, the frustration due to a need to communicate, to express ourselves… but some of us are a little too old to cry over that, though it would be ok too.

In this manner, instead of crying of frustration because we cannot remember the irregular conjugations of the Simple Present in Spanish or the pronunciation of the rolling of the R (RRRR), the best way to start is to learn a few common and easy expressions in Spanish that can get you by with Spanish-speaking friends; or when traveling to a Spanish-speaking country.

So, here we present you a list with the 10 easiest expressions in Spanish for beginners:

  1. ¿Cómo se dice ___en español? / How do you say ____ in Spanish?
Example: ¿Cómo se dice school en español? Se dice escuela.
